Supporters and Challengers

Supporters and Challengers

The Leadership Challenge: When an association develops its strategic plan, some of the activities that have become an integral part of the association's culture may no longer be suitable based on the association's current mission and the needs of its members in today's environment. Staff and volunteer leaders often struggle with the challenge of how to address the feelings of the volunteers who are passionately connected to these activities.

While considering the impact of these decisions on volunteers is an important part of implementing a change, it should never discourage an association from letting go of the past in order to better serve its members moving forward.

Orange fish in a blue sea

"Amidst the sea of change to which the New Hampshire Association of REALTORS has played witness in its 85 years, one thing that has remained constant is the Realtor 'R' and the value we bring to every real estate transaction in which we take part. We are part of a unique community where our familial cooperation transcends our business competition. These are not mere platitudes, but our living ideals, and they are, in fact, the foundation on which we conduct ourselves in our day-to-day affairs."

Joanie McIntire, 2024 President, New Hampshire REALTORS
